I wanted to entertain my parents, and hit the spot. I also dropped my jaw when I saw the The Mud Maid and the Giants Head:
The Lost Gardens of Heligan are one of those places where you just feel inspired: the colours, the smell, and the history are captivating. I was touched by the idea that this place was in the hands of so many gardeners, and that all of them had to leave at once to fight in the First World War, never to come back. You never think of these things: a garden (a massive one) with no gardeners for decades, until someone decides to pick up the thread and start again from where it was left. Now I know what a giant rhubarb looks like.
